4 Pump Court features on both sides in ‘Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government v Urban Splash and others’.

In a landmark test case under s124 of the Building Safety Act 2022, the Government has applied for remediation contribution orders seeking almost £50m in respect of alleged fire safety defects in seven major Manchester buildings. The claims, which have been joined to be heard together by the First tier Tribunal, have been brought against 11 respondents. This is one of the first attempts by the Government itself to recover payments made by the Building Safety Fund to fund post-Grenfell remediation works .

Alexander Burrell instructed by Martin McKeague, Asia Munir and David Manda (Walker Morris LLP) are acting for the applicant, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Claire Packman KC and Jennie Gillies instructed by Jonathan Anslow and Carl Smith (Keoghs) are acting for two of the respondents.
