Gabriel has been instructed to advise on and appear in insurance, commercial and construction matters, and has appeared extensively in the County Courts. Recently, Gabriel was instructed in a multi-million pound Caribbean fraud matter. Gabriel has also recently aided in seeking a freezing injunction.
Gabriel’s first two pupillage seats focused primarily on shipping, and involved the drafting of advices and pleadings on demurrage, deadfreight and laytime disputes. Gabriel also aided in drafting pleadings relating to several sanctions matters, and in a lengthy shipping arbitration raising relating to bareboat charters. Gabriel’s third and fourth seats have brought a focus onto construction work, including drafting pleadings in Building Safety Act disputes, and advice on adjudication and delay disputes.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Gabriel took a first and then a masters in history at Trinity, Cambridge, where he was President of the Union, as well as being a member of the Footlights.
