Kaity Crowe is developing a diverse practice across Chambers’ areas of expertise, with a focus on commercial litigation, international arbitration, and shipping and commodities.

Kaity holds first class honours degrees in Law and Government & International Relations from the University of Sydney. Prior to being called to the Bar, she qualified as a solicitor in New South Wales, Australia and worked as a Research Associate (Judicial Assistant) at the Federal Court of Australia (the Commercial Court). As a Research Associate, Kaity worked on a wide variety of matters, including class actions, and corporations, insurance, and admiralty disputes.

Advising on the validity of the service of proceedings in England and Wales.


Acting as sole counsel in a range of applications, including strike out, summary judgment, and relief from sanctions.


Being instructed as sole counsel in a mortgage repossession claim involving allegations of mortgage fraud.


Advising on the applicable limitation period for a claim seeking to set aside a judgment on the grounds of fraud.


Assisting as a pupil with:

    • an advice on obtaining an injunction in the Commercial Court;
    • an application for permission to serve proceedings in Turkey;
    • an advice on the merits of an application to enforce an arbitral award obtained in Qatar in England and Wales, and possible grounds to challenge the enforcement of those awards;
    • an application for security for costs in the High Court;
    • drafting written submissions for a SIAC arbitration concerning the sale of defective COVID-19 vaccines.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Kaity worked in a leading London shipping law firm as a research paralegal and was a finalist at the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot. She has experience in both wet and dry shipping disputes and has assisted on a broad range of issues including time bars, off-hire, safe ports, contracts for marine insurance, and force majeure clauses.

    • an advice on the merits of a claim for unpaid hire following the arrest and detention of a vessel due to third party conduct;
    • a Defence and Counterclaim in proceedings concerning a seller’s alleged failure to comply with Indian phytosanitary import requirements;
    • an advice on the merits of an unsafe port claim valued at £4 million following the negligence of a pilot during berthing;
    • preparing a speaking note to be used in GAFTA proceedings, concerning the proper construction of a force majeure clause; and
    • an advice on the merits of an appeal from a GAFTA Appeals Board decision concerning the validity of a Notice of Readiness.
