Richard joined Chambers in 2024 following the successful completion of his third six pupillage. He is developing a broad commercial practice and accepts instructions across all of Chambers’ areas of work.
Richard graduated with a first-class degree in Law from Cambridge in 2015 and a distinction in legal and constitutional studies from the University of St Andrews in 2018. Before embarking on pupillage in 2022, Richard worked as a paralegal in the public and private sectors, including spending two years in the compliance department of a leading litigation funder.
Advised on proper interpretation of a contract for the purchase of construction goods, a rebate agreement over those purchases, and on the applicability of competition law to the dispute.
Assisted on advising on title over commercial land in the Caribbean.
Assisted in drafting costs submissions at the International Chamber of Commerce.
Instructed as sole counsel in a dispute over the proper interpretation of a travel insurance policy.
Instructed as sole counsel in respect of a marina seeking unpaid mooring fees and an injunction to remove a vessel.
Advised on the prospects of recovery by a secured creditor against the administrators of an insolvent shipping company.
Assisted in drafting defence submissions in a dispute about redelivery notices dealt with at the LMAA.
Assisted with advising on prospects and drafting particulars in respect of a claim for a legal indemnity under a contractor’s framework agreement.
Assisted with drafting application for security for costs in respect of a disputed termination of an IT consultancy agreement.
Assisted with drafting application for an order for further steps in respect of a disclosure order in respect of an expert report into company governance.
Assisted with drafting applications for strike-out and summary judgment in respect of a claim for data loss.
Instructed as sole counsel on a claim for unpaid utilities.
Assisted in advising on an application for an anti-suit injunction in respect of international proceedings on petroleum contracts.
Assisted in drafting statement of case for an LCIA arbitration in respect of repair obligations over an airport hotel.
