22nd July 2021

We will provide an update note on the 2nd reading of the Bill as soon as possible.

In the meantime, it may be of interest to note that at the beginning of the 2nd reading (or rather shortly thereafter, which caused some consternation) a ministerial statement was provided in relation to EWS1 forms, which have been causing real difficulties in the residential sale market.

Mr Jenrick’s statement indicates that the government would like to act on advice that EWS1 forms should not be required for buildings below 18m. It is not clear from the statement when or how the changes referred to in the note will take place.
