What you need to know about life after 1 January 2021.
Neil Dowers has contributed to a recent COMBAR handout detailing the changes relevant to commercial practitioners following the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020.
The handout consists of three main sections:
- Changes to commercial law practice by Freddie Popplewell, Essex Court Chambers;
- Rules for establishing jurisdiction post-Brexit by Kristina Lukacova, Monckton Chambers and Joshua Folkard, 4 New Square;
- Enforcement of exclusive choice of court agreements under the Hague Convention 2005 by Neil Dowers, 4 Pump Court.
The handout contains hyperlinks to relevant statutes and regulations and will be updated as the legislation changes. It will be useful to anyone conducting civil or commercial litigation with a cross-border element involving parties based in EU member states.
