4 Pump Court is delighted to announce that Mr Justice Arjan Sikri of the Singapore International Commercial Court has become an associate member of Chambers. He is an eminent jurist and former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. He is Chair of the News Broadcasting Standards Authority of India and sits regularly as an arbitrator in International Arbitrations.

Nick Vineall KC, Joint Head of Chambers, commented:

We are extremely honoured to have Justice Sikri join us as an associate member. Chambers looks forward to deepening its links both with Singapore and with India. Many members of chambers appear in Singapore in international arbitrations, and we look forward to increasing opportunities to work together with Indian arbitrators and practitioners on international disputes. In a post-Brexit world we believe it is right to be seeking closer links with practitioners from countries with which we share so much legal heritage in common.”

Judge Sikri added:

“It gives me immense pleasure to be an associate member of 4 Pump Court Chambers. The globalisation at economic level has not only blurred to the national boundaries (notwithstanding that the nations maintain their respective political sovereignty), it has resulted in deeper co-operation of different stakeholders across the countries. Alongside, it has also witnessed convergence of laws, particularly in those areas which have transborder ramifications. International arbitration is one such field. Judiciaries of the countries are liberally adopting global approach in their decisions and freely rely upon the experience of other jurisdictions by citing their judgments. It equally applies to the arbitrators as well as practitioners on international disputes. In this scenario, I feel delighted to have this relationship with the Chambers and hope that it would be highly productive for all of us.”
