On March 13th we hosted the second session in our two part series of seminars focusing on the consequences of Carillon’s collapse.

Chaired by Sean Brannigan KC, Alexander Hickey KC and Luke Wygas, experts in disputes arising from PFI contracts, discussed the likely consequences of the Carillion collapse on PFI contracts going forward.

Alexander Hickey KC introduced the background to how PFI projects work, how they have developed and changed over the years, some of the problems based on his experience with them, and predicted likely developments for the future post Carillion. Luke Wygas covered the interpretation of PFI contracts and how the courts are developing techniques for dealing with the nuances of these contracts along with how to terminate these long-term contracts along with issues arising out of insolvency.
