On 24th March 2021, Lord Garnier KC joined DLA Piper’s inaugural Public Law Roundtable event. DLA Piper’s UK public law team arranged the international briefing to provide other lawyers within DLA Piper from Australia, Austria, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Nigeria with an update on current public law trends in the UK.

In addition to bringing the audience up to speed on the recently published Independent Review of Administrative Law and the Government’s subsequent consultation exercise on reform of the law relating to judicial review, Edward spoke about his part in the landmark prorogation case of 2019 in which he acted for one Conservative former Prime Minister against the current Conservative Prime Minister. The judgment in Miller 2 was, it is thought, the reason why the Government set up the Review and why it is now consulting on alterations to this aspect of the law.
