As part of the celebration of the 110th Anniversary of Shanghai Maritime University, on 2 July 2019, Andrew Stevens will be delivering a lecture at Shanghai Maritime University with the Past President of the LMAA (Clive Aston), the current President of the LMAA (Ian Gaunt), and the Hon. Secretary of the LMAA (Daniella Horton).
The topic of Andrew’s presentation will be, “LMAA Arbitration – Through the Eyes of the Parties and Arbitrators”.
The aim of the event is to demonstrate to Chinese enterprises potential procedural and legal issues they are likely to face in international maritime arbitration when implementing the One Belt One Road project.
Andrew has acted on over 30 China-related disputes (often for Chinese SOEs) in ad hoc, ICC, LCIA, LMAA, SIAC and HKIAC arbitrations seated in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He is a regular speaker in China and has previously delivered a training course on international arbitration at Renmin University in Beijing. In 2019 he organised the inaugural UK-China Arbitration Summit.
