4 Pump Court is delighted to announce that Elliott Cook and Samantha O’Brien O’Reilly will become tenants of chambers, following a year of pupillage, from 1 October 2020.

Elliott Cook

Elliott has a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia. He was a judicial assistant at the Supreme Court of Western Australia, before practising as a commercial solicitor in Perth. Having moved to the UK in 2017, he obtained an LLM (First Class) from the University of Cambridge, before working as a foreign qualified solicitor at an international commercial law firm in London. Elliott started pupillage at 4 Pump Court in September 2019, during which he has been exposed to a variety of practice areas including shipping, financial services, IT, construction, professional negligence and insurance.

Samantha O’Brien O’Reilly

Before coming to the Bar, Samantha worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland. Her work focused on human rights, the rule of law and peace and security. She was a member of Ireland’s delegation to the United Nations and a Deputy to the Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe. Whilst at the Council of Europe, she represented Ireland at meetings supervising the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. Samantha has a BCL Law with French Law (First Class Honours) from University College Dublin and a Certificat Supérieur de Droit Français et Européen from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas. During pupillage, Samantha gained experience in a variety of practice areas, including technology, energy, financial services, professional negligence, shipping, construction and insurance.
