Arbitrators

We have significant experience of acting as counsel in commercial arbitrations, both domestic and international, and our more senior members are regularly appointed to act as arbitrators in such disputes.

Our arbitrators accept appointments direct from contesting parties and via arbitral institutions, such as ICC, LCIA, DIAC, HKIAC, SIAC, LMAA, KLRCA and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce. In addition to appointments in London-based arbitrations, 4 Pump Court arbitrators are called on to travel to distant jurisdictions, such as Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE, Australia, Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur and Korea, as well as to the leading arbitral centres nearer to home in Europe.

Adjudicators

In addition to acting on behalf of parties in adjudications, our Construction barristers are frequently appointed as adjudicators, under the statutory Scheme or other adjudication rules.

Many of our barristers are TECBAR-accredited adjudicators. We can provide appropriately experienced adjudicators for disputes of any value and complexity, and for all types of project.

Dispute Board Members

We also accept appointments as members of Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards, and other Dispute Boards. These are typically for major energy or infrastructure projects overseas under FIDIC conditions, or projects in the UK under NEC4 or other dispute resolution terms.

Expert Determination

Members of 4 Pump Court are happy to accept appointments to carry out Expert Determinations, particularly in construction, insurance and  reinsurance, professional negligence, and technology and telecoms where we have specialist expertise.

Mediators

Mediation services enable parties to resolve their disputes quickly, confidentially and cost effectively. This can help to avoid damage to valuable ongoing commercial relationships.

We have a team of specialist mediators who will improve the chances of reaching a settlement. With our background as barristers, we have first-hand experience of the challenges that parties face in pursuing and defending claims.
