4 Pump Court’s Commodities expertise arises from our specialisms in shipping, banking and finance disputes.

The majority of our work in this area sees our barristers advising on international sale contract disputes, usually through litigation or arbitration. Our cross-sector expertise encompasses related financial transactions, such as hedging, FFAs and other ISDA-based agreements.

Our experience in the Commodities sector includes:

  • Oil and petroleum
  • Gas
  • Sugar
  • Cotton
  • Coal
  • Metal (shredded scrap steel, exotic metals such as Molybdenum and others)
  • Rice
  • Grain

Our Commodities work comprises litigation and interim relief, including freezing injunctions before the Commercial Court of England and Wales and the Court of Appeal, and references before specialist trade associations such as GAFTA, FOSFA and the International Cotton Association. Members of our Commodities team also appear as advocates in international arbitration before arbitral bodies including CIETAC, ICC, LCIA and LMAA.
