Justice Arjan Sikri is an International Judge (“IJ”) of the Singapore International Commercial Court (“SICC”). He has been an Associate Member of 4 Pump Court since 2021.
Arjan has conducted cases of all types of specialisation in Constitutional cases, Labour – Service Matters and Arbitration Matters. He was counsel for numerous Public Sector Undertakings, Educational Institutions, Banks & Financial Institutions and various Private Sector Corporations.
Arjan was designated as Senior Advocate by Delhi High Court in 1997; appointed as Judge of High Court of Delhi in 1999; became the Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court in 2011; elevated as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2012; elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of India in 2013. As a judge, he has rendered numerous judgments in the field of commercial and arbitration laws, tax laws, Intellectual Property matters and economic laws. In arbitration law itself, judgments are more than 200 in the High Court and Supreme Court. He has authored more than 4700 reported judgments in his judicial career.
Arjan was chosen as one of the world’s 50 most influential persons for Intellectual Property in the survey conducted by prestigious international organisation Viz. He was awarded Managing Intellectual Property Association (MIPA) in 2007 in recognition to his contribution to the growth of Intellectual Property Laws through his judgment.
International Arbitration
After demitting office as Supreme Court Judge, Arjan has been working as an Arbitrator, handling both domestic and international arbitrations as Chair or Co-Arbitrator, as nominated by the Parties. He is also empanelled with the following institutions: AIAC, ICC, LCIA, SIAC and PCA. Additionally, he has been nominated as an Arbitrator in a few international ad-hoc arbitrations.
Arjan has chaired 8 international arbitrations and there are more than 20 international arbitration awards to his credit. In addition to this, he has been appointed as an Arbitrator in many international arbitrations by the Supreme Court of India and in domestic arbitrations by the High Court of Delhi, High Court of Bombay, High Court of Punjab & Haryana and other High Courts. Insofar as domestic arbitrations are concerned, he has rendered arbitral awards in 75 cases in the capacity of Presiding Arbitrator and/or Sole Arbitrator.
